node volume groups not showing

Recommended Posts

Did the centos7 install on a new master and slave node. When the centos7 was up (with root/boot on its own VG + LV), I added another VG named 'data1' in lvm with the rest of the disk, then installed Solus. When I check the node's LVM tab from the master, it shows nothing. How do I get the master to see the VG so I can put nodes in that VG?

Where did you create the Volume Group, On master or slave?  master server may not require the volume group until and unless you want to expand the storage for VZ..

Can you elaborate the complete scenario properly..

Short answer: you must pre-create the VG before attaching the node (I am not sure if you need to create it before running the solusVM install script too, I did so in this case). Then when you add the node to the master via the webUI you can specify the VG. There is no chance to edit a node and add additional or change the VG after addition (this is somewhat limiting of SolusVM).

update:  You can infact edit the node by hand to change the vg name but you cannot use the LVM manager to see these VGs. Makes me wonder what the LVM manager is for.
